To Whom It May Concern,
Please accept this letter as my strongest possible recommendation that you vote favorably to install LaToya Nkongolo as the delegate to replace Del. Rachel Munoz. I could write pages about why LaToya should be an easy pick for this role. However, there are hundreds of people who will speak to all of LaToya’s impressive qualities. I could speak about her compassion, her community advocacy, our years of partnership, her common sense approach to many issues, and the list goes on.
Instead, I will speak from my perspective as a regional broadcaster with my finger on the pulse of our national and local culture. This nation finds itself at a rare moment of cultural transition. Republicans must take advantage of growing curiosity about the Republican Party. As voters evaluate the merits of the party, they are most concerned with having representatives that understand their issues. LaToya’s personal story is compelling, her experience the very definition of American opportunity at its best. Maryland deserves to see the very embodiment of the American dream.
More to the point, Maryland faces unique challenges that LaToya is uniquely equipped to address. A catastrophic spike in juvenile crime poses an existential threat to the financial well-being of this state. The current Governor, Wes Moore, remains committed to a fundamentally flawed juvenile justice strategy, and the General Assembly is far too willing to endorse this reckless agenda. LaToya’s personal history and professional background as a mental health expert give her a uniquely powerful voice that cannot be easily ignored. LaToya will not back down, nor will she compromise in her relentless mission to end the leftist lunacy that dooms troubled youth to a life of delinquency and crime. The tens of thousands of dollars the radical left dumped into her board race speaks to the threat she represents. To Democrats, no price was too steep to prevent her from having a voice in Maryland policy. This alone makes her the most qualified woman to fill this role.
What I say next will be delicate, and I am hopeful that it is received in the humble spirit intended. I see this moment as a rare chance to right a great injustice perpetrated against my dear friend. Politics is a dirty business, but I will never forget my shock and dismay when I discovered that the Anne Arundel County District 31 delegation formed a primary slate with the specific goal of robbing my friend of a fair opportunity to compete in the primary. I sat with LaToya over coffee many times, and we worked hard to set our feelings of betrayal aside and do the hard work of pushing a badly needed message of powerful advocacy for conservative ideals, tempered with a keen eye to community issues. Even as the Central Committee finds themselves in this very predicament, I trust that a careful dose of reflection will allow this point to stand on its own weight.
LaToya is a wonderful woman and a fantastic champion for our community. Anne Arundel County will benefit from having her in this seat. The Republican party will gain a stronger strategic position with her advocacy. Selecting LaToya is the right thing to do, for the reasons I listed and with thousands more to come.
Respectfully,
Torrey Snow
